Testimonies from Commission 17 Delegates
“I have reached about 350 students.”
After the Commission conference, I have considerably reached out to my fellow students on campus. I have reached about 350 students, among them being freshmen, through one on one evangelism and invitation of non-believers to our small Christian fellowships. Both students and campus workers have given their lives to Christ, with about 70 of them being students.
On top of this, I have taken my teaching practice opportunity to spend my time with the people living around Tsavo National Park (Ikutha-Kimweli) where there are very few churches. Early this year we established a Church there and I long to see what God will do in the community since they face a lot of challenges. Isaiah Mwangangi
My ministry and mission life was transformed.
I glorify the Lord for the chance I got to attend the Commission 2017. It transformed my life, especially in the Children Ministry. After Commission 17, I participated at a High School Mission, and I bless the Lord for His grace. I facilitated a Bible Study group of around 25 students on the book Joel. Back on campus, we have the Bible Study program where I am one of the facilitators.
I am also a Sunday school teacher. I got a chance to share the gospel with the children, and four of them accepted Christ. I’m now planning to start a program of helping them understand how they are to remain rooted in Christ. But for now, I meet them after service and try to talk to them. Margaret.
God has revived my calling as a Bible Student and Teacher.
I am very grateful to God to have enabled me to attend Commission 2017; this was my third time attending the conference since 2008 while I was still a student at the National University of Rwanda. Every time I come to Kenya for Commission I go back home in Rwanda refreshed and revived in my walk with Christ. Find hereafter specific works the Lord has been doing in and through me after Commission:
- First and foremost I was strongly revived to live with a true sense of purpose: live only to know Christ in the Bible and make Him known to others
- As an associate in the marketplace, I am serving part-time with GBUR (FOCUS Rwanda) particularly at the GBU (CU) KIM University where I weekly meet with small group leaders preparing their Bible study in small groups which takes place every Thursday. I am helping them to study the letter of Ephesians using an Inductive Bible Study guide
- I also conducted IBS trainings with a CU in the Northern part of Rwanda and also with graduates’small group leaders using the book of Acts
- I have an IBS training for Pharmacist professionals from the book of Acts
I am very grateful that through Commission 2017 God has revived my calling as a Bible student and a Bible teacher. Espoir- Rwanda.
God has put in me a burning desire for Him.
Ever since the conference God has placed in me a burning desire to serve Him. I serve in the TUM- CU as the high school ministry leader by God’s grace. That has given me a good opportunity of evangelizing to many high school students. So far we have reached three schools where hundreds of students have given their lives to Christ. In collaboration with their various C.U. Patrons, we are organizing a class for new believers for discipleship purposes. I know His grace is sufficient to sustain me in His ministry. God bless you! Haluka Roba.
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
I give thanks to the Lord for giving us the strength to do all things. Since Commission 2017, I’ve had more zeal, power, and courage to wait on the Lord in all circumstances. We were five delegates from South Western Uganda- Kisiizi Hospital and Nursing School. The first testimony is that we were empowered with God’s word and have since been committed as a team to:
- Preach to the schools around the hospital;
- Build up music ministry and;
- Reach out to the patients in the hospital wards.
I have attended two missions so far.
It has been a good run since the beginning of the year. I have been to two missions organized by the various E-Teams in our institution. First, it was in Kipkelion-Kericho and then Homabay. I have ministered to a reasonable number, and around twenty people got saved. To God be the glory! The local churches are in charge of following up and ensuring that they remain faithful to the Gospel as the Lord is the one who calls us into salvation and sustains us in keeping the faith. Samton Matondah.
I have formed a group of eight fellow student delegates whereby we meet every Thursday from 7.30-8.00 p.m. Thank you for your concern and be blessed. Hellen Mmbango
I now share the Gospel with my friends and family.Since Commission ‘17, I began sharing the Gospel with my friends on campus and with my family. At home, my young cousins are growing in the word every day, and I thank God. They have learned memory verses. Most of those I shared the gospel with received Christ, and we have been encouraging each other since. Thanks, FOCUS Kenya. Teresa.
Evangelism through the social media
I am currently involved in evangelism inside campus every Monday for one hour. I have also embraced evangelism through social media where I post God’s word in the form of pictures in Instagram and WhatsApp. I have also tried to employ relational evangelism on campus The link for the notes is very helpful as I am planning to start reading to acquire more knowledge in missions. James Kuria
I began missions after my experience at the Commission Conference.
I began missions after my experience at the Commission conference. I have been doing door to door evangelism to my fellow students on campus and the neighboring community. Ten people have so far made commitments to follow Christ. Ilenji Sharon Litiolo
I asked God for joy, and that, He has been giving me.
Commission 2017 Conference was one of the best things that happened to me last year. I had just lost my brother, and I asked God for joy, and that He has been giving to me. My relationship with God has been great since then. I purposed to be more intentional in reading the word and more so in journaling. When I was at the conference, I was challenged to memorize scripture. So, I am planning to study and memorize the book of James. Grace Mwangi
Commission 17 was great I thank God. Indeed, I made a commitment to share the gospel in my context, and since then I have been trying. I have participated in the campus in reach and outreach so far. One person gave his life to Christ, and the rest promised to continue with the walk in Christ. Jane Kiguta
A new perspective on missions and being a Christ ambassador.
Commission 2017 gave me a new perspective about missions and being an ambassador of Christ in my vicinity. Since then, I have been active in my church, where I serve as a worship leader and youth secretary. I have shared with one person who has not yet accepted Christ, but I continue to pray that the Lord to soften their hearts and confidence for myself to keep on sharing. Awinda Alice Dinga
Prayer for missionaries
I have been doing door to door evangelism in the campus hostels by the help of God. No one has committed to Christ yet, but I am still reaching out. I have been praying for my missionary friends. Ebenezer Kim
Is the church in Kenya uniting?
Through FOCUS Kenya, great things are happening in this nation and I am grateful to God. Events such as Commission Conferences provide an avenue where people from different places come together thus uniting the divided church in Kenya. Commission 2017 was a life-changing event. May God bless the work of FOCUS in Kenya and other nations. Anderson Karisa
“My life has greatly changed”
I would attribute the growth of my desire for ministry to Commission Conference 2017. I cannot miss the fact that my life has greatly changed from the same and I give God the glory. Stephen Gachui
Thank you for the follow-up. Commission conference changed my life, and I really thank God. I was able to discover my God-given gift. It’s also during the Conference I purposed to support missions financially. God bless FOCUS Kenya. Brian Wamai
“I committed to praying for missioners and evangelize too.”
I am forever indebted to FOCUS Kenya for giving us a platform like the Commission where I learnt so much and interacted with my peers. Finding a God-directed Organization that even checks on our commitments to Christ are quite rare. I committed to pray for missioners and evangelize, and I have been doing it with the help of God. May God bless you! Reginah Mburu.
“Witnessing has become more fun and more relaxed for me.”
Since Commission ‘17, I must confess that witnessing has become more fun and easier. I’m happy to share that I am now actively taking part in door-to-door evangelism. I’m really grateful to God and to FOCUS Kenya for the chance to be equipped for ministry. Kavulavu Brian

God’s grace has been sufficient.
My walk with Christ has been the most precious experience that I can say, the most valuable I can ever tell. God’s grace has been sufficient, and through His Holy Spirit, He has been teaching me to know and say no to all ungodliness. James Kihara (more…)
